Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains, and repairs the racetrack surfaces and physical structures.

 

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

 

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure all equipment to be used during the assigned shift is ready for use
  • Operate water truck, tractors, backhoe, spreader truck.
  • Wash equipment.
  • Repair pylons and fence as needed
  • Assist with equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Do preventive maintenance on equipment such as changing oil, replenishing fluids, etc.
  • Refuel vehicles
  • Remove and replace rail as required.
  • Minor carpentry work.
  • Minor welding repairs.
  • Snow removal for all areas of Hoosier Park.
  • Assist Landscaping staff when required.
  • Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SOCIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with our guests. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be licensed by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
