Job Description

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide continuous observation of all gaming and public areas and be alert for any acts of a suspicious nature. Protecting company assets and reputation with continuous electronic surveillance of property, people and games activities.  To ensure departments are following internal controls.

 

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS: 21 Years of age

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Must maintain a working knowledge of the Illinois Gaming Board Adopted Rules, Harrah’s Internal Controls, Surveillance Department Operational Manual and the Harrah’s Employees Handbook.

 

  1. Video and physical observation consisting of but not limited to:

 

        All live gaming

        Count Rooms

        Slot areas

        Food and Beverage areas

        Casino Cages and Main Bank

        Entrance and Exits

 

  1. Know basic strategy and the count(s).

 

  1. Communication with Casino and Hotel personnel.

 

  1. Video recording rotation/retention.

 

  1. Special Projects as assigned.

 

  1. Must familiarize self with the operation of each department and duties of department members.  Must keep abreast of the latest in gaming technology and have full knowledge of methods of protection.  Position also required knowledge of employee’s money handling procedures.

 

  1. Ensures that all reports submitted have integrity based on facts.  Exercises care in the handling of sensitive matters, as error in judgment could prove embarrassing to the property and have an adverse impact on the image of the Casino.

 

  1. Maintain contact with Illinois Gaming Board, private investigating firms, Surveillance Managers and employees of other casinos and Corporate Security personnel. Internally, job requires constant contact with all Department Heads and Shift Managers.

 

  1. Must assist customers in answering questions and direct them to areas of safety during emergencies as instructed by management, security or senior crew members.

 

  1. Ensure exceptional customer service to all customers by communicating in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times.

 

  1. Any other tasks as requested by immediate supervisor

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

PHYSICAL – Must be able to:

 

  1. Be mobile.

 

  1. Work in a confined environment. 

 

  1. Stand approximately ten percent (10%) of the shift to observe casino.

 

  1. Sit ninety percent (90%) of the shift at the console to operate the cameras.

 

  1. Use the telephone and radio to communicate during entire shift.

 

  1. Hear for phone conversation.

 

  1. See for observing the table games and count rooms.

 

  1. Lift three to five pounds when performing equipment maintenance.

 

  1. Climb stairs repeatedly.

 

MENTAL – Must be able to:

 

  1. Write in English to complete daily reports.

 

  1. Read and understand the command of the English language in order to communicate with all departments.

 

  1. Know basic and accounting type math.

 

  1. Verbally speak and communicate with guests and employees.

 

  1. Understand and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.

 

  1. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

 

 

PREREQUISITES/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School diploma or GED equivalent.  Degree preferred.  Requires an in depth knowledge of all forms of gaming activities, equipment and accessories which is gained through extensive experience in the gaming industry.  Working knowledge of CCTV equipment is required.

 

GAMING:

Must have the ability to hold an Occupational License as required by the Illinois Gaming Board.
