Job Description

Position Summary:
To handle service requests from guest, and all departments on the resort. To monitor machinery, energy consumption, and assist with general maintenance projects.
Essential Functions
• Receives daily work assignments and prioritize
• Prepares reports on completed work
• Monitors all aspects of plant and property
• Performs service to ensure safe and efficient operation on various types of equipment
• Performs minor repairs or isolates the problem to ensure continuous operation
• Takes equipment and machinery readings as per manufacturer’s recommendations
• Takes and logs utility readings
• Performs regular plant inspection tours
• Performs scheduled preventive Maintenance
• Maintains and operates emergency generator as required
• Prepares requisition for parts to ensure there are no delays in making repairs
• Must be able to operate scissor lift to change out lights in parking areas and porte-cochere
• Makes regular inspection of all public areas to replace light bulbs as required
• Makes regular inspections of all landscape, pathway, and roadway lighting and replacing lightbulbs as required
• Test all emergency exit lights
• Inspects all electrical power cords
• Must be able to trouble shoot guest room TV, DVD systems and repair as needed
• Must be able to utilize blueprints and schematics to trouble shoot problem areas
• Must have knowledge of all code requirements as to proper wire, fuse, breaker types and sizes for high and low voltage systems
• Participates in the resort preventative maintenance projects
• Assist with resort general maintenance projects as assigned
• Responds to maintenance calls regarding guest issues and performs required maintenance
• Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the resort.
• Completes power washing on property per the established schedules
• Maintains and cleans the trash rooms per the established schedules
• Assist with any emergencies like floods from storms or plumbing stop ups, and major power outages
• Helps with storm preparations and getting ready for hurricanes
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor to best accommodate the guest and the resort
• Help all trades as required to trouble shoot electrical issues
• Assists with general maintenance projects as assigned
HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To be aware of, and comply with safe working practices as laid down by the Health & Safety Act and the Health & Safety Committee
  • To report any defects in the building plant, or equipment according to the Resort Procedures
  • Always use protective equipment when using power tools and welding, always make sure that ladders are safe to use before they are used and report any unsafe equipment to the supervisor
  • To ensure any accidents to colleagues, guests or visitors are reported in accordance with resort procedure
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language to facilitate the communication process.
  • Must possess basic computational abilities
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must have ability to lift up to 25lbs on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 50lbs.
  • Must have ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to use step ladders up to 14’ and extension ladders up to 20’
  • Must be able to operate all high lifts
  • Must be able to handle all types of electric power tools
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education & Experience:
• Must hold a locally recognized license in either Plumbing, Electrical HV / LV or HVAC
• Must have a minimum of 5 years working in the Facilities Engineering industry
• Training in trouble shooting of plant equipment and controls is desirable, should have working knowledge of HVAC systems, RO Plant, Waste Water Treatment and BMS / EMS systems.
• Previous experience working in the hospitality luxury resorts is desirable
