JOB SUMMARY:
 
 This position oversees Labor and Employee Relations for a specific POD in the Las Vegas Region Human Resources.  This includes providing advice, counsel and HR support to all levels of management, training and developing of the HR staff, HR training for all levels of the Operations staff, managing the grievance, mediation and arbitration processes, handling outside agency issues, frequent interaction with multiple unions concerning collective bargaining issues, participation in collective bargaining and other employee issues and concerns.  The number of Direct Reports will vary by POD.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  
  • Manager a team of 2-5 Advisors.
  • Serves as a dynamic and energetic leader, while fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation and open communication. Establishes self as highly credible leader with highest levels of integrity, and always acts in the best interests of the employee and the company while adhering to all company policies and procedures, all collective bargaining agreements and the law.
  • Acts as a role model and coach while developing employees using a consistent, approachable demeanor and clearly articulating expectations.
  • Ensures that team members clearly understand and are held accountable for their performance expectations.
  • Works as a change agent and challenges the departmental processes to improve and streamline department operations, through the continuous assessment of policies and procedures, work processes and program effectiveness and value.
  • Demonstrates excellent facilitator skills in resolving conflicts between different points of view.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills in determining a vision, aligns and inspires the team to achieve the vision.
  • Assists management in determining appropriate resolution of employee/labor relations issues.
  • Embraces all elements of our customer service programs including Performance & Culture, Service Standards, Performance Standards, Total Service Results, Customer Interaction Initiatives and Buzz/Employee Rally Sessions.
  • Recommends and implements change to improve overall employee satisfaction with Human Resources services. Creates strong working relationships with all Unions and Outside Agencies associated with Labor/Employee Relations.
  • Establishes and endorses the business objectives, ethics and values of Caesars Entertainment Inc. in accordance with the Code of Commitment.
    Plans, organizes and directs all Labor/Employee Relations functions for pod.
  • Develops effective proactive training/coaching programs for departments in the areas of employee interaction, conducting employee meetings, conflict resolution and interpretation of Labor Laws and Union contract requirements.
  • Ensures timely response to Outside Agency inquiries such as NLRB field offices, NERC and other various federal and state labor relations entities.
  • Oversees Step One and Grievances processes and assures that all policies and procedures (Federal/ State Labor Laws, Union Contract requirements and other Regulations) are implemented and enforced.
  • Successful candidate should have experience working in a Union environment, including collective bargaining and grievance handling.
  • Recommends changes in programs, systems, policy and/or procedure, as necessary, to maintain competitive position while remaining contract compliant.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in Labor Law and conducts research on topics of interest to Caesars Entertainment in meeting company objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:  
 
  • College Degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong background in Supervision preferably in a union environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Labor Law with a general knowledge of Human Resources Management.
  • Knowledge of National Labor Relations Act and Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle a wide range of complex and emotional issues.
  • Proven ability to effectuate cultural change and achieve performance objectives.
  • Successful candidate should have experience working in a Union environment, including collective bargaining and grievance handling.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships and ability to influence.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, Harrah’s 1 and timeworks.
  • Individual is viewed as an outstanding team player.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:  
 
Fast paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint.  Works independently in a demanding work environment. Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to staff and guest problems, in a timely manner. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Must be able to tolerate areas containing second hand smoke. Must be able to lift and carry 10 pounds. Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, twist and work at a desk/counter when performing functions of the job. Respond to visual and aural cues. Must have manual dexterity to operate all office equipment. Position requirements prolonged periods of sitting, walking and standing. Must be able to recognize and respond to individuals with questions. Must be able to maneuver around office and property. At times work is conducted in areas containing secondary smoke.
