Job Description

Ensuring all public and staff areas of the hotel are cleaned and serviced to 4 Diamond standards. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and inspect public areas according to Hotel standards, including washrooms, stairwells, lobby, spa, and restaurants.
  • Coordinate cleaning priorities and special assignments including deep cleaning projects in all public areas.
  • Train and mentor Night Cleaners.
  • Document and perform regular performance reviews for Night Cleaners.
  • Replenish supplies and amenities in public and staff washrooms, placing inventory orders as needed.
  • Report maintenance problem to Engineering department.
  • Train all night cleaners on hard-surface-flooring and carpet cleaning equipment including heavy equipment such as a tomcat, carpet extractor, etc.
  • Participate in large deep cleaning projects in public spaces.
  • Be knowledgeable in Health & Safety, WHMIS, MSDS, and PPE and the safe use of housekeeping chemicals and equipment and ensure all staff follow safety procedures.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment for both guests and staff.
  • Be familiar with hotel facilities and knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures, assisting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • One year of experience working in a leadership role
  • Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience is preferred
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Excellent communication and organizing skills
  • Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to focus attention on guest needs and to remain calm and courteous at all times
  • Creates a motivating work environment 
  • Available to work an overnight shift from 10:45 pm to 7:15 am
