Job Description

Overview/Basic Function: Responsible for maintaining the general condition and efficient operation of all commercial kitchen appliances and refrigeration. Complete maintenance request work orders pertaining to all kitchen equipment as assigned on a timely basis. Perform and document all Daily Inspections of each kitchen and perform scheduled maintenance rotating. Complete other special projects assigned periodically by the Chief Engineer and/or Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
  • Receive daily work assignments from the Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities and special projects.
  • Organize materials, tools, and equipment to perform daily assignments.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. 
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs to all kitchen equipment.
  • Safely perform all work, ensuring the protection of yourself, affected employees, and equipment.
  • Resolve kitchen equipment issues promptly and communicate resolution to the reporting staff.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Effectively manage time to ensure daily/weekly/monthly PMs are completed in accordance with the preventive maintenance program. 
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and at whatever time of day.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Assist other engineering personnel as instructed by the supervisor when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to include:
    • Inventories and secure of tools, parts, and materials
    • Requisition (receipt and storage)
    • Trash removal and cleanup
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all chemicals, including refrigerants, in a safe manner and compliant with OSHA, EPA, and company protocols.
  • Ensure the security of any assigned keys.
  • All other duties as required.
Experience: Minimum two years of field experience in Commercial Kitchen Equipment repairs, including hands-on refrigeration repairs, gas-fired appliances, and proficient electrical and plumbing troubleshooting and repairs.
Education: High school diploma. Technical trade skills training in affiliated fields.

Technical Skills: 
  • Refrigeration and repairs, Gas Fired Appliance troubleshooting and repairs, reading electrical schematics, soldering/brazing, and proficient with electrical and plumbing.
  • Working knowledge of all electrical supplies and equipment; knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal; working knowledge of health codes, electrical codes, national/local fire codes, local mechanical codes, blueprints and wiring schematics, power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades; ability to interpret manufacturer’s literature for installation, preparation, use, and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property, be well organized and follow instructions, focus attention on details, operate high reach lifts, prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments, work and perform job functions with minimal supervision, work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. 
Language: Required to speak, read, and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 50 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.

  • HVAC Universal Certification
The pay scale for this position is between $35.00 and $40.00/hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
