As a Design Manager – Full Service Brands, you will support the team that leads our brands with the steadfast goal of strengthening and growing the Hilton portfolio. On the Global Design Services team reporting to the Senior Director of Design, you will be responsible for the interior design review and approval of new build and renovation projects for Hilton Full Service and Lifestyle Collection Brand properties in the US & Canada.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

What your day-to-day will be like:

  • Lead the ongoing evaluation and evolution of the Brand Narrative, D&C Standards, Brand Attributes, and brand/design initiatives for each Full Service Brand.
  • Generate project evaluation protocols, including the development of program, planning, and design review due-diligence initiatives.
  • Oversee the design review of new build and renovation projects across the US & Canada.
  • Manage the Design Approval process through the standard phases of Conceptual Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents/Specifications.  Review design presentations, construction drawings, and specification submittals for compliance with GDS and brand standards and compose written recommendations or approvals for internal and external distribution or record.
  • Receive digital and hard copy submittals and implement the process of accurate log maintenance, design review, and safe record storage.
  • Track active projects to ensure we are ahead of the curve, monitoring the progress of incoming and ongoing design projects. Maintain project journal noting the status of priority projects over time for on-demand reporting and presentation to the GDS VP, GDS SVP, or Global Brand Head.
  • Maintain the design website with the external webhost company, including the evaluation of functionality, effectiveness, and user-friendly interface. Help develop content materials and tools for ongoing site improvement.
  • Develop resource documents to streamline processes and guide consistency across the portfolio while refining the Brand Design & Construction Standards to reflect new materials and methods.

How you will collaborate with others:

  • Create GDS Design Initiatives, Brand Narratives, and Design and Construction Standards with the Brand, Development, and Technical Services Teams.
  • Build positive partnerships with both internal and third-party partners such as owners, developers, and design consultants to promote our dynamic approach relative to planning and operational efficiencies.
  • Guide consultants of Managed/Franchised hotel owners and hotel GMs through the process of online project registration, design submittals (both electronic and physical), issuance of design review documents, design re-submittals, and eventual issuance of formal design approval letter.
  • Assist in the communications and follow-up with Brand Management teams to resolve outstanding issues.

What projects you will take ownership of:

  • Lead project evaluations in the North American Region (USA & Canada) that are critical for design, brand, and technical reviews to achieve Global Design Services (GDS) approvals for conversion, renovation, and newly constructed properties.
  • Contact owners and their design consultants of select projects to support entry into the major design awards programs. You will identify and track projects that merit entry into Design Awards Programs and help produce the GDS End-of-Year presentations. 

WHY YOU’LL BE A GREAT FIT

You have these minimum qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of experience as a professional design consultant
  • Two (2) years of dedicated Hotel brand design management experience
  • Two (2) years of project management and stakeholder management experience

It would be useful if you have:

  • Five (5) years of experience working in the Hospitality Design Industry, within the Full Service or Luxury Sector
  • Current Licensed Architect or Current Registered Interior Designer
  • Experience with Adobe Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Prior work with Sketch-up, AutoCAD, or other 3D visualization software
