THE JOB:

As a Cook at Best Friend by Roy Choi, you'll be an essential part of our culinary brigade, expertly blending Korean and Mexican flavors to create our unique bodega bar and restaurant food. Your mastery of culinary techniques will shine as you craft dishes that delight our guests. Plus, your warm smile and attentive service will set the perfect tone for their dining experience. STARTING RATE: $24.5385

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Demonstrate expertise in food products and culinary techniques by effectively preparing delicious Korean and Mexican fusion dishes.

  • Safely operate and utilize kitchen equipment, ensuring their proper maintenance and functionality.

  • Monitor and replenish kitchen supplies and food items required for ongoing service to ensure seamless operations.

  • Implement proper labeling and dating procedures for products to uphold sanitation standards and ensure food safety.

  • Exhibit proficiency in menu knowledge and meticulous attention to detail in plate presentation for an enhanced dining experience.

  • Collaborate with kitchen leadership and fellow staff members to ensure smooth execution of service and timely delivery of dishes.

  • Display adeptness in preparing base sauces, stocks, and soups, contributing to the authenticity and flavor of Italian cuisine.

  • Foster teamwork by assisting guests with their needs and inquiries, including the assembly and preparation of hot food items, showcasing exceptional knife skills.

  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.

  • Works varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • One (1) year cooking experience.

  • One (1) year high volume kitchen experience.

  • Has formal culinary training.
