OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:
The Beach Services Waterman / Experience Attendant position will support the activation and execution of a wide variety of guest activities including traditional Hawaiian canoe paddling, surfing, snorkeling, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, and other beach related activities.  In addition, this position will also be involved with and support a variety of 3rd party contract outfitters including boat charters, diving, and hiking/tours.

  • Consistently provide exceptional service and communication with guests and team members.
  • Provide a genuine sense of Aloha and hospitality to the employees and guests of the Resort.
  • Promote a warm, friendly, and safe atmosphere.
  • Be an ambassador of the property; both on and off-site.
  • Address guest concerns and requests quickly and follow them through to completion.
  • Inspect outlets daily to ascertain any maintenance, repairs, or cleanup needs etc.
  • Be an active voice for the resorts Ocean Awareness & Education Program
  • Be a pro-active part of the resort’s safety program (specifically on the beach and around related activity programs).
  • Support the team by providing one-of-a-kind experiences with guests each time you interact with them.  Every interaction should be a memorable one, and something our team is proud of.  Leading authentic “waterman” experiences as to create lasting memories. 
  • Support the team and beach shack experience through greeting guests, assisting with sales, and scheduling activities. This will support the Kilo Kai Beach Activities Coordinator position and requires good organization, computer and sales skills, and a desire to serve the guests. 
  • Support 3rd party activities and activities.
  • Support sales at beach shack.
  • Support a dynamic menu of Outdoor Adventure Programs to be executed with your team members:
  • Traditional Hawaiian Canoe Paddling utilizing (1, 2, 4, 6, 12-man canoes)
  • Sailing Canoe
  • Kayaking
  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding
  • Snorkeling
  • Free Diving
  • Hiking
  • Waterman Training
  • Boogie Boarding (conditions permitting)
  • Surf Instruction (conditions permitting)
  • Support daily Keiki oriented programs in conjunction with the Keiki Rosewood Explorer Program including:
  • Ocean Animal education (using touch tanks or other immersive tools)
  • Keiki Pond Fishing  
  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding
  • Ocean/Swimming Skills
  • Shoreline Exploration Hikes
  • Snorkeling
  • Coconut Harvesting
  • Support guest events that occur during various times of the year including:
  • Outrigger Canoe Regatta (during the Festive Holidays) (Family vs Family)
  • Kona Village Swim Race (during lead up to Ironman Triathlon)
  • Keiki Swim Race (during summer months of high keiki count)
  • Keiki Lifeguard Training (during summer months of high keiki count)
  • Keiki Pond Fishing Tournaments
  • Keiki Surf Tournament (conditions permitting)
  • Execute operating plans/standards of service for Outdoor Adventure Programs and Operations.
  • Assist the Beach Services Department from time to time with guest service on the beach including moving beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, and cabanas.  Support the daily set-up and breakdown of activities and equipment when needed.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and beach and activities space.  
  • Assist in maintaining a regular inventory of supplies and assist with forecasting and budget for replacement as needed. 
  • Supports team members and guests on safe and effective usage of equipment.
  • Assist with lifeguarding duties.  Maintain your certifications for all First Aid/First Responder, CPR and Lifeguard certifications.  
  • Support, implement, advise and enforce resort safety rules on use of beach and related equipment. 
  • Participate in training regimes for staff so they are fit and ready for activity on land or in the water.
  • Observes guests and watches for concerns and or emergencies and follows resort procedures according to resorts guidelines. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
  • Retail sales to support beach shack sales and activities.
  • Advanced experience in ocean related activities and skills (swimming, paddling, surfing, diving etc.).
  • Previous experience as an Outdoor Tour Guide or Outfitter a plus.
  • Previous experience in a luxury resort or private club.
  • Strong swimmer who’s able to handle rough ocean water conditions
  • Must be able to walk in the sand and carry / pull equipment up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
  • Work outdoors in the sun and in varied weather conditions.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations and support lifeguarding and health related situations.
  • Must be able to juggle various objectives while remaining positive and displaying the Aloha spirit.
Language: Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
Licenses & Certifications: First Aid / CPR Certified and American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate
