Job Description

Job Summary: The Barista at Raffles Doha will be responsible for crafting high-quality coffee beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting coffee bar environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to delivering a superior guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coffee Preparation:

    • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and specialty drinks, following established recipes and techniques.
    • Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment efficiently and accurately.
  • Customer Service:

    • Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, taking and processing orders promptly.
    • Provide recommendations on coffee and menu items based on guest preferences and dietary needs.
    • Address guest inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Operational Duties:

    • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area, including countertops, equipment, and storage.
    • Monitor inventory levels, restock supplies as needed, and assist with ordering and receiving deliveries.
    • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards, including proper handling and storage of food and beverages.
  • Quality Control:

    • Ensure consistent quality and presentation of beverages, maintaining high standards for taste and appearance.
    • Regularly taste and evaluate coffee to ensure flavor profiles meet the established standards.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
    • Assist with training new baristas and providing support to colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Previous experience as a barista or in a similar role within the hospitality or food & beverage industry is preferred.
    • Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment is an advantage.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to engage positively with guests.
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of beverage quality.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Passionate about coffee and eager to share that enthusiasm with guests.
    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • A positive attitude and strong work ethic, with a willingness to learn and grow within the team.
