About the Banquet Captain Role:

The Banquet Captain serves guest needs by providing exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items as well as information regarding preparation methods.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise all banquet staff throughout meal service and delegate tasks to them as needed.
  • Train new staff members on how to perform their assigned tasks in the banquet, food preparation, and dining areas.
  • Hold team meetings to provide updates on policy or service changes, and they manage any staff problems that occur, defusing situations as quickly as possible.
  • Oversee banquet room setup, directing staff on where to place table settings, centerpieces, and other table decorations.
  • Ensure that banquet room stock is fully supplied at all times, including food. They alert staff when supplies are running low so they can be replenished from inventory storage.
  • Banquet captains respond to customer complaints, questions, and compliments.
  • · Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication and guest contact skills. Applicants should have a minimum of 1-2 years previous experience in a similar environment. Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English is also required. The ideal candidate will have a confident outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any request. The ability to remain calm under pressure is essential and applicants must have full availability schedule with the ability to work all shifts (AM & PM), weekends and holidays. 

  • Must have previous high-end food and beverage, banquet experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have previous banquet or large function experience.
  • Flexible schedule, ability to work morning, afternoon, or evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
