Job Description

As Associate Director of Bars, you will play a key role in leading the day-to-day operations of the bars and staff. You will supervise, create, train, and manage employees and activities related to the beverage programs of the hotel property, and contribute to the overall success of the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Focus
• Ensure all bar related programs are up to expectations and in line with brand.
• Create cocktail menus that are in line with the brand.
• Create bar programs for Rosewood San Miguel de Allende
• Lead the team to create products and services to Rosewood San Miguel de Allende bars to be the best bars in the local and national market.
• Continuously drive the quality of product and deliver excellent results.
Guest Satisfaction
• Ensures that all associates deliver the brand promise and always provide exceptional guest service.
• Ensures that associates also provide excellent service to internal customers in other departments as appropriate.
• Handles all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
• Spends time in the Bars (during peak periods) to ensure that the Bars are managed well by the respective associates and functions to the fullest expectations.
Finance
• Maximizes associate productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking, and flexible scheduling to meet the financial goals of the business as well as the expectations of the guests.
• Ensures that the Bars are operated in line with maximizing profit while delivering on the brand promise.
• Achieves the monthly and annual personal target and the Bars revenues.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual business plan for Food and Beverage.
Marketing
• Prepares with the Bar team, a yearly marketing plan which is the basis of the Food and Beverage annual marketing plan.
• Evaluates local, national and international market trends, vendors and other hotel/restaurant operations constantly to make sure that the hotel’s operations remain competitive and cutting edge.
• Continuously seeks Marketing and Public Relations opportunities to increase awareness and ultimately business.
• Is savvy of the local scene and maintains strong network of contacts to entertainers, barmen.
• Maintains a close relationship with regular patrons and entertains whenever appropriate.
Operations
• Ensures that minimum brand standards have been implemented.
• Responsible for the adequate creation and implementation of quality assurance programs (LQA/FORBES/AAA).
• Ensures that all Food and Beverage Essentials are implemented.
• Responds to the results of the consumer audit and ensures that the relevant changes are implemented.
• Works closely with others Head of Bar and Rest & Bar Managers, in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests.
• Ensures that Food and Beverage associates work in a supportive and flexible manner with other departments.
• Tastes and monitors the food and beverage products served throughout the operation, provides feedback where appropriate.
• Monitors service and food and beverage standards in the Bar working with the Head of Bar, Rest & Bar Managers, Executive Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisines to take corrective actions where necessary.
• Conducts frequent and thorough inspections.
Human Resources
• Oversees and assists in the recruitment and selection of all Food and Beverage associates. Adheres to hotel guidelines when recruiting and uses a competency-based approach to selecting associates.
• Oversees the punctuality and appearance of all Food and Beverage associates, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards.
• Maximizes the effectiveness of associates by developing each of their skills and abilities through the appropriate training, coaching, and/or mentoring.
• Conducts annual performance development discussions with associates and to support them in their professional development goals.
CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required skills
• People person and good motivator
• Proficient and Fluent in Spanish and English as a must
• Excellent organizational skills
• Solid leadership and training skills
• Finger on the pulse in market trends and changes
Qualifications
• Hotel Management or business degree preferred
 Experience
• 8+ years experience in Food and Beverage bar operations or freestanding lifestyle restaurants
• Experience with leading bars and restaurant background
• Has previously worked in the local/national bar scene
